Yoga for Change: January 28th, with guest teacher Blake Hamilton

Yoga for Change returns tonight 5:30-6:30 pm at the West End Community Centre.

Brandon City Yoga welcome's this week's talented guest teacher, Mr. Blake Hamilton.

Acro Yoga fun: Blake (Base) flying a friend in bow pose

We asked Blake a few questions to get to know him a little bit better, here is how he responded:

How long have you been practicing yoga?

-I have been certified to instruct yoga by Moksana Yoga, Victoria, for 9 years and have been training with Brandon's Afro-Brazilian Martial art group Capoeira Guanabara for 5 years.

What is it about yoga that you enjoy the most?

- I enjoy the space that yoga makes in one's body and mind. Strength, flexibility, balance and flow are all integrated through a meditative discovery and treatment of connective tissue, muscle and bone in a slow dance.
Yoga means yoke, in reference to harnessing the mind. In movement, in stillness, find balance, find space.

Are you working on any goals this year?

-This winter I want to work on strengthening my upper body and core muscles to enable new dimensions of movement.

We are so pleased not only to host Blake, but also to help facilitate donations towards this month's charity of the month: The Manitoba Arthritis Society.

Suggested minimum donation is $5 or pay as you can. Thank you for being a part of this community.
